Mail Order Bride: Cowboy Father Finds Beauty Within Her Scarred Body tells the story of God bringing two people together and finding the true definition of love in 1867. Susan, a beautiful daughter to a preacher from California, begins to think she will never find a suitable husband. The men in her town are either all taken or are not of the church. While at a store, she reads a magazine advertisement from a man in California, Gabriel, seeking a "mail order bride". Feeling led by God, she begins a correspondence with this man. He is a God-fearing man and owns a large ranch where he and his son live.

They exchange many letters, learning about one another, and decide to meet. The two quickly fall for each other and realize that this relationship may be true love. When things are going great, life always has a way of bringing in hardships to test you and your faith. While outside tending the field, Susan notices Gabriel’s house on fire with his five-year-old son, Gideon still in it. Wasting no time she runs in to save him from death, in the process, suffering permanent severe burns and scars to most of her body. Although her physical beauty is now gone, she remains an angelic person on the inside. Will Gabriel realize this and still love her for who she is?

I really liked all the Scripture that was quoted in this story. They were all some of my favorite verses that served as a reminder to keep focused on Jesus no matter what trials may come.

Which scene was your favorite?

I particularly enjoyed the scene when Susan first meets Gabriel and Gideon, and especially the ride from the train station to the ranch. Oh, to see everything in our lives for the first time and never take any of God's gifts for granted!
