Jazz pianist Liz Randall is reeling from her wife's death and struggling to keep their band together. An invitation to play at the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival is an opportunity she can't turn down, and a challenge she might not be up to until she enlists the help of a mysterious neighbor who's surprisingly knowledgeable about jazz.

When Jac Winters reluctantly agrees to help, a past she wants to forget threatens to destroy the carefully ordered life she's built with her guide dog, Max, in the quiet town of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

With music and love swirling around them like ocean currents, will Liz and Jac play it safe or risk everything on making a comeback?

The story is well written and full of emotion. It would be even better with a good narrator. Unfortunately this narrator only had two voices. Without a good narrator a lot of the emotion in the story is lost. I became invested in the characters despite the poor narration so I wanted to finish the book. If you can look past the poor narration it's a wonderful story.

This audiobook was so lovely. Two musicians finding their way back from loss and grief and to each other.

I loved this story. Good writing, good pacing. The narration was distracting, though. Jac sounded so robotic, I thought it was one of those computer generated voices. Still, I got used to it after a while. Toward the end of the book, however, the narrator missed the voice switch a few times and read another character's part in Jac's voice. The producer should have caught that and re-recorded that segment.

Fantastic story, meh narrator

Great book but could have used better narrator, becomes addictive and couldn't stop listening to it.

The story was great!
I loved the ability of the characters to use music as metaphors. Jazz is an amazing source of story and emotion.
Character voice consistency is so very important to audio adaptation of a stories words. Jac, dad, Hannah, etc. were all consistent. Liz went from high or alto to basso when she was away from Jac, almost like listening to Jac speaking Liz's parts. For that matter, opposite female voices sounded like Jac or one of the males. It was distracting. Otherwise, I say again, it is a great story.
