""It must have been a hell of a night, if only I could remember it.""

All Victor Carl knows is that he's just woken up with his suit in tatters, and a stinging pain in his chest thanks to a new tattoo he doesn't remember getting: a heart inscribed with the name Chantal Adair.

Is Chantal Adair the love of Victor's life or a terrible drunken mistake? Victor intends to find out, but right now he's got bigger concerns. His client, a wanted man, needs to come in out of the cold, and he's got a stolen painting for Victor to use as leverage.

But someone is not happy that the painting has surfaced. Or that the client is threatening to tell all. Or that Victor is sniffing around for information about Chantal Adair. The closer Victor comes to figuring it all out, the deeper into danger he falls, as the ghosts of the past return to claim what's theirs.

Really enjoyed this one. It was a great listen. I've read some other Lashner books, but have stuck to paper versions since Marked Man is the only Lashner book Audible offers that is read by Richard Rohan. I sampled the other books on Audible, but couldn't get with any of the other narrators.

I have listened to this one more than once and it never fails to entertain. Good humor, good story; an off-beat, and good mystery. I recommend it.

Great read (listen)!

In the story, Marked man, the protagonist is presented as a not-so-glitzy, not-so successful, rather down-to-earth, but not-without-connections Philadelphia lawyer, with alot of spare time.
A rather incomprehensible map of Philly is given that would only appeal to others from that area. The somewhat predictable ending is logically devised, and the listener is left satisfied. Has some elements of classic style. The reader manages to convey excitement. The listener is swept along a wave of events that are as unlikely as they are charming. A lite listen with some good sequences, when character is not detracting.
