Mason Greene returns home from the war, but people see his episodes and want to have him committed to a mental hospital. However, no matter how hard he tries, he can't stop being drawn back into the fighting in his mind.

He flees to Colorado and secludes himself on a farm, providing for himself and never venturing out. That all changes, however, when he discovers an exhausted woman collapsed on his property. She’s endured a tragedy of her own, but he never thought rescuing her would change his life in so many ways.

What a wonderful story that had strong emotions and great character development. As with all wars, the civil war left many men affected and Jared was one of them. Then he found an exhausted woman that had collapsed on the edge of his property. All of her family had been killed and he took her home to help her. Then things changed to turn his life upside down. The narrator did a great job with his voice of the characters.

The marriage of convenience between Mason and Carrie wouldn't happen in most cases today for two people who spent the night together under innocent circumstances. However it was interesting to see how the two of them worked together to make their marriage work. Their story is a good lesson for us on how a marriage that is not perfect can work when the husband and wife work to honor God.

Such a great audiobook! I enjoyed the story and the narrator. Both Mason and Carrie had problems but Carrie seemed to be able to put hers aside if she didn’t dwell on it. Mason thought of himself as a broken man but Carrie tried to help him as much as possible. She didn’t want to give up on helping Mason and he didn’t want to give up his idea that he was troubled.
A little romance, a little trouble and a whole bunch of stubbornness from Mason and Carrie makes this a wonderful story. Try this inspirational romance. I think you will enjoy the audiobook.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
