Mercury Raine is the most sought-after ghost broker in all the kingdom, with more ghosts than anyone knows and more secrets than one person should have. With a dangerous past threatening to catch up with him, Mercury has taken on the goliath task of training his new neighbor, Tacey Wilde, in the ghost brokering trade. Doing so isn’t without risks, but letting her and her all-too-knowing ghost simply walk away is far more perilous.

He has been warned to be on the lookout for more ghosts like Tacey’s, who know things about him that they ought not. So, when two new clients arrive with a ghost who remembers him, despite never having met him, Mercury knows he must do everything he can to keep their ghost, the Cream Canary, at his home and the secrets she knows from being whispered into the wrong ears.

Ok honestly I was not even going to buy this series but it was too tempting and it’s from a favorite author. But seriously UGH why is she offering these short little blurbs of a fantastic fun story. I need to go online and find out why because I seriously want a whole book not a snippet! Was it worth buying them ehh maybe but it more or less just irritated me because you don’t really get a full story out of either book. It just teases you…I know this would make a marvelous series!

Oh waaay too short!!!

"The storm is gathering and building."

Mercury Raine: A Whisper in the Wind

I am completely entranced by Mercury Raine's story and this series! The mystery is so intriguing and I NEED book 3! I love that we are getting bit by bit of the mystery of Mercury Raine's past. It definitely keeps you wanting to continue the series.

I loved the small moments and glimpses into the slow burn romance between Mercury and Tacey Wilde. Especially when she takes care of him and stays with him after the Transferral.

Audio Review: Best male narration ever! Jake knocked it out of the park with this one, and I imagine book 1 audio was perfect too. I'm really not kidding, definitely order the audio for this series! Jake does a different, unique voice for each character, including accents. Highly recommend!!

I definitely recommend book 2 and am eagerly anticipating the rest of this series. So what are you waiting for? Order both of these books before book 3 is announced!

Favorite Parts:
Continued mystery
New ghosts
She takes care of him
That ending
The AUDIO!!

"The storm is coming. Whispers carry on the wind, Mercury, and there is no way of knowing to what ears that wind will carry them."

Thank you to the author for the audio copy. All thoughts are my own.

Perfect narration for this series!

This second installment was just as amazing and addictive as the first. I was sucked in from the moment the story started and already cannot wait for the next book. I love how listening to this narration is like a bed time story but ten times better. Jake Stormoen is the king and I could listen to him narrate books for ever. The story itself is creative and original. The characters pull you in and I need to know more about Mercury Raine. I definitely recommend this.

So addictive! Ten stars.

Fresh. Captivating. Bingeable. Heartwarming. This story was everything I was craving and more! With plenty of loveable and quirky ghosts, easy-to-pick-up ghost broker lore, and lots of mystery, I loved every page.

If you’ve read the Dread Penny Society series, this was a cross between the short penny dreadfuls interspersed throughout and the full length novels, with the addition of some ghostly companions. I loved the whole concept of the ghost broker and how it fit in seamlessly with London society in the Regency period. The ghostly characters were some of my favorites, and Mercury’s protectiveness of them was so endearing. These aren’t creepy ghosts; rather, they’re additional family members with quirky personalities and hallmark attributes that make each ghost seem so individual. I don’t want to give away too much because I feel like this is a book best read blind, but suffice it to say that this series will be a constant unfolding of secrets, curiosities, and mysteries, with a possible slow burn romance in the future!

This first installment had a satisfying conclusion but still left me with lots of unanswered questions and an insatiable urge to start the next one! I was lucky to have the second on hand and finished it basically the same day. Highly recommend!
