Abigail Reynolds and narrator Elizabeth Klett make a great team, and this book is no exception. Reynolds imagines different versions of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and Klett is the perfect narrator to bring her characters to life. She does men and women equally well, and her British accent is impeccable.

Another great Abigail Reynolds book!

First off, I was very deceived from the description of this book and the auto sample. I thought due to reduced circumstances Elizabeth would agree to be Darcys mistress. I wanted to see them both put their pride aside and admit their attraction/love. Alas I was wrong neither one even thought that was a possibility. Marriage or nothing for both. I enjoyed the introduction of new characters but I did miss Mr. Bennet. I never knew how much I loved his character until he was absent. Narrator was amazing btw.

Enjoyed it but have a few complaints

I liked this retelling - even with Elizabeth’s reduced circumstances she maintains her spirit in a way that some authors take away from her after losing her father and all significant prospects. Darcy’s growth also feels natural and not forced despite receiving a very different set down than the original. It’s a fairly clean and simple retelling for the main protagonists and there’s almost certainly more story development for the secondary characters but still primarily centered on D & E’s experience within all the chaos. It doesn’t have as much spice as I like in these stories but was still a good read!

Sweet and a little Saucy

spoiler alert: the description is a little misleading but the stories enjoyable. Elizabeth misunderstands Darcy's offer

I do not own this book. My review is only of the sample. I wonder if this book is simple too repetitious of other books that I've read; and, therefore, I have hesitation about buying this book. Dr. R Shechter
