An unforgettable heroine is faced with an unbelievable crime in this snarky, charming locked-room mystery that asks: would you rather be snowed-in with a ghost, or a murderer?

A grand country estate.

On her last day as a detective, Midge McGowan is given the retirement present from hell: a ticket to a haunted house tour. She’ll have to spend a weekend ghost-hunting in an isolated mansion with a group of misfits, including a know-it-all paranormal investigator and a has-been pop star.

A puzzle that can't be solved.

The guests soon realize that the house has a mind of its own… and that they might not be the only ones there. An eerie figure appears on the property, and then the unthinkable happens: someone is murdered in a room that’s been locked from the inside.

A ghostly weekend they might not survive.

When a blizzard cuts the group off from help, the house’s own dark secrets begin to surface, and Midge can’t shake the creeping sense that they are walking into a nightmare. Could a ghost really be responsible? Or is the culprit one the guests, who have somehow, impossibly, endeared themselves to Midge?

This story was the perfect cozy-meets-creepy kind of horror—more of a relaxing murder mystery than anything overly intense. It keeps you intrigued without ever feeling overwhelming, making it a fantastic pick if you enjoy murder stories that are atmospheric rather than graphic. If you like suspense that slowly pulls you in, I highly recommend this one.
What truly sets this apart, though, is the audiobook performance—absolutely phenomenal. The narrators delivered such rich emotion and personality that it genuinely felt like listening to a movie unfold. The podcast-style chapters were especially impressive: the added sound effects and immersive audio editing showed real care and creativity, and the voice actors brought every character vividly to life.
This is hands down one of the best-produced audiobooks I’ve listened to. Between the engaging story and the outstanding performances, it’s an experience I’d happily recommend to any audiobook lover looking for something memorable. 🎧✨

The recording for this was phenomenal

Murder Most Haunted by Emma Mason is a wonderfully entertaining haunted-house mystery that never takes itself too seriously. With its eccentric cast of characters, sharp dialogues, and constant humor, the novel quickly becomes a pleasure to read.
The story feels like a modern descendant of the film Clue: a house full of suspects, plenty of secrets, and a series of increasingly absurd events. But Mason refreshes the formula by placing it firmly in today's world, gently mocking influencers, podcasters, social media culture, and modern anxieties along the way.
Everything one expects from a classic Gothic mystery is present—and more. There are murders (of course), ghosts, secret passages, arsenic in the grand tradition of old detective stories, and even some grave digging. Nothing is spared, and that is precisely what makes the book so much fun.
The real strength of this Audible also lies in its actors playing all the characters: exaggerated, witty, and consistently hilarious.

Since there was no description when I bought this, I was taking a leap of faith. This book was better than I expected with good plotting and characters. The audio is great- we have the main character with occasional breaks of a podcast. The plot and twists aren't anything new per se, but done well and not obvious. I really enjoyed this cozy but not too cutesy book.

Good listen
