Verity Beresford is worried about her husband. Oliver didn’t come home last night so of course Verity goes straight to Judith Potts, Marlow’s resident amateur sleuth, for help. Oliver, founder of the Marlow Amateur Dramatic Society, had hired The Marlow Belle, a private pleasure cruiser, for an exclusive party with the MADS committee but no one remembers seeing him disembark. And then Oliver’s body washes up on the Thames with two bullet holes in him – it’s time for the Marlow Murder Club to leap into action.

Oliver was a rather complicated chap and he wasn’t short of enemies. Judith, Suzie, and Becks are convinced they’ll crack the case in no time. But things are not as they seem in the Marlow Amateur Dramatic Society, and the gang will need to keep their wits about them, otherwise a killer may sail away scot-free …

I’m a fan of the Marlow Murder Mysteries and have been since book #1. We have another great mystery here, and again it is wonderfully read by Nicolette McKenzie! I loved the author interview at the end of the book, too, and can’t wait for the next installment.

Great

I picked up the series as just one cozy mystery among the others, but after the first book it immediately became one of my favourite series ever (and I read/listen to a lot!). Every new book makes me fall in love with the characters and their stories more and more! And it was an absolute delight too to learn where the author's inspiration comes from. I was really doubting a man wrote this at first, because the women in those books are so fleshed-out and fun, relatable and real! Turns out mr. Thorogood has just a brilliant observation skills, great role models and an incredible skill for putting all of that in writing in his stories. And on top of that, a staggering amount of talent for mysteries! Whenever I think I can finally guess the culprit, it turns out I am in for another surprise once again! I love how the books surprise and excite me without making me feel stupid about it, and like the solution is never suddenly unraveling something we didn't know just so we couldn't have guessed correctly.
A big part of my love for the series is obviously also our beloved narrator. I don't think I could imagine the people and events as vividly if it wasn't for the amazing voice acting. It's one of those rare occasions where I'll be probably buying new books based solely on her reading them.
I can't recommend this series enough, much love for both the author and the narrator

The whole series is a delight
