The life of the silent film and comedy icon, in his own words - "the best autobiography every ever written by an actor...an astonishing work" (Chicago Tribune).

Take an unforgettable journey with the man George Bernard Shaw called "the only genius to come out of the movie industry" as he moves from his impoverished South London childhood to the heights of Hollywood wealth and fame; from the McCarthy-era investigations to his founding of United Artists to his "reverse migration" back to Europe.

Charlie Chaplin's heartfelt and hilarious autobiography - one of the very first celebrity memoirs - tells the story of his life, showcasing all the charms, peculiarities and deeply-held beliefs that made him such an endearing and lasting character.

My Autobiography offers dedicated Chaplin fans and casual admirers alike an astonishing glimpse into the heart and the mind of Hollywood's original genius maverick.

This is a fascinating personal viewpoint of Chaplin’s journey through life, art, politics and wars. This is the best way to learn history, through the personal stories of those who lived them.
Well read.

Beautiful insight for the history of film and 20th century

Best book. Best narrator. I really thought I was there with Chaplin the entire time. Learned so much. So many geniuses throughout the book. I would stop and google them all. Fascinating life. So ashamed of the USA and how they treated him. But in the end he lived a better, fuller life in Switzerland. To say I loved the book would be an understatement - too simple. To say the narrator deserved an award for his performance would be too trite. There are no words. The man was a genius and we were lucky he took the time to write his own biography. We were lucky he shared his many many talents. I cry and laugh at his movies. Shame on america to discard this treasure. I will now go pay tribute in Switzerland to his gravesite. Hopefully he knows what everlasting creation he left behind for us. I know now.

Best book I ever ‘heard’ on audible. I learned so so much.

I thought thus would be boring and too old for me. quite the contrary, Charlie Chaplin was a genius, hard working, had morals. business sense and was a good guy. really enjoyed this one.

unexpected great read

I really enjoyed the deep dive into a psychological analysis and slow degradation of his mother’s mind throughout the story. I could listen to this man’s voice all day. I loved the book and the movie.
