another fabulous Carmilla adaptation 😍

this Carmilla reimagining was absolutely delicious!!! i've loved Carmilla since i stumbled on it 10+ years ago and every adaptation i consume heightens my love for it.

Anita Zara has such a way with storytelling; i felt like i was meeting Laura and Carmilla for the first time. i loved the ways the side characters--Perry, LaFontaine, Betty-- were all involved. i loved watching Laura explore her sexuality. i loved their messy, tempestuous, emotional romance. i also loved this take on what happened to Laura's mom! and Genevra! wow, i absolutely Love her voice. i will 100% be looking into other books she's narrated. she and Anita wove magic into this story.

Carmilla will ruin you (lovingly)

Genevra Lupa Catalano narrates with such smoldering sapphic energy. She DIDN'T have to go that hard. Every word she narrates feels like Carmilla leaning over Laura’s shoulder to whisper, “You belong to me.”
