MY DARING TEXAN: Fiesty. Fun. Sparkling.

By night this rough-and-tough cowboy was a bestselling romance author.

If anyone ever found out, life as he knew it would be over, for he and his brothers were legendary in Honky Tonk, Texas—known for being six-foot-gorgeous quintessential cowboys who’d migrated from ranching to small town living.

When a lost, wet, bedraggled flight attendant showed up stranded at A.J.’s remote cabin, he didn’t think twice about sheltering her throughout a storm. And she didn’t think twice about rummaging through his things. What she hadn’t counted on was his reaction to what she discovered.

This short, fun, enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity romantic comedy features A.J. Bradford and is the perfect antidote after a long day at work.

THE BRADFORD BROTHERS OF HONKY TONK, TEXAS

This seven-book stand-alone series features cowboys who have swapped out ranching for small-town living. And not just any small town, but one with a colorful background and storefronts such as Pump & Grind Coffee Shop, Get the Hair Outta Here, Junk & Disorderly, and The Family Jewels.

My Daring Texan by Dakota Lacoy
The Bradford Brothers of Honky Tonk, Texas series #2.
A.J. Is the youngest of the Bradford brothers. The family of cowboys swapped out for small town living, the men are six-foot, gorgeous, and prepared to help when needed. A.J. lives in a remote cabin, usually alone, and the quietest of the brothers. As far as everyone knows, he’s an audiobook narrator for travel books.
With a wild storm rolling in, A.J. Is shocked to find a beautiful flight attendant on his doorstep, almost drowned, car stuck in the flooded road. He doesn’t hesitate to offer shelter, but he’s just not used to someone else in his space or having to talk to someone else during the days. For her part, she’s very leery of this man out in the middle of Texas, and she is not sure she can trust him. He might be a serial killer for all she knows.
With a power outage, flooded roads and no cell service, she does some snooping to make sure he doesn’t have a something to worry about. And what a secret she finds! No even her family knows what his real job is!

🎧 Jason Clarke performs the audiobook with skill and perfection. He’s fantastic to listen to although as usual, I listen at a speed of at least 1.5 to better match a Midwest conversation speed.

Started out a little scary! But it’s a contemporary romance so almost immediately you realizes he is an audiobook narrator and then leans towards humor as she even insists on trading plates with him when he makes their first meal together.
It turns to romance and family and is an adorable series.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the brothers.

This book started a bit slow for me, but I was sick in bed with chills, so that might have something to do with it. Luckily, it picked up and continued to keep my attention. I cheered when the main FMC stuck to her values no matter how hard it was.

I look forward to reading more of this series and books by this author.

A few months later, instead of reading, I listened to this book and enjoyed it a bit more. I kept thinking, "I know I read this before." It didn't take me long to be sure. I enjoyed the book more as an audiobook. Well, I wasn't as sick as during my first read. I liked the narration. However, I still can't remember the name of the flight attendant. I do remember A.J.'s. He is the male main character.

I have to read the next book to see which of AJ's brothers poses for the cover of one of his future books.

Enjoyable Read!

AJ and Carley’s appealing story unites a reclusive murder mystery author and a stranded flight attendant in a close proximity, snowed in caper that I thoroughly enjoyed. In an imaginative and appealing plot AJ welcomes his stranded guest whose vividly escalating imagination erringly concocts a panicked premise that he’s a serial killer. There’s a real talent in writing a shorter length book where every sentence, glance, touch, and emotion is emphasized with an importance that sucks you in to the characters’ lives. The lack of minutiae lends a unique power as it ratchets up the intimacy between the characters that gets to the heart of the matter that I really appreciate. The enticing world of writers, their emotionally vulnerable storytelling, and the promise of a great story is every romance lovers dream. The cherry on the sundae is the awww shucks ma’am, swoon worthy narration performance of Jason Clarke who absolutely shines with his old fashioned manners and his appealing Texas twang!

Fabulous storytelling that shines with Jason Clarke’s Texas twang!!
