Fearsome Scots laird Gabriel MacLachlan must take a bride, but not just any bride. Magdalene, his liege lord's younger sister, is known to be as bonny as any Highland lass but as mad as a loon. Mad Maggie, they call her - and Gabriel has no choice. Not if he wants to put food in his clansmen's bellies, clothes on their backs, and repair the crumbling castle he calls home. A fat dowry in exchange for a madwoman, whose life will be in danger from the MacLachlan family curse the instant she becomes his wife.

A generations-old curse, an honorable chieftain, a clever beauty - it's the perfect recipe for a spirited Highland Romance.

Contains mature themes.

I really enjoyed this story. Curses, and madness, betrayal and plots kept me rooted to the end. Great narration and my very favorite a HEA. The characters were great. I couldn’t help but root for Gabriel and Maggie as they uncovered plots and secrets and their feelings for one another.

This story took quite a while to unfold but when it did, it was beautiful. A lunatic bride, a curse on a family line, and a despot hungry for more power: What could possibly go wrong? I loved the characters as well as the storyline.
My first book by Miriam Minger and I’ll be back for more.
I didn’t enjoy the Audible narrator as much as others. In my opinion her voice was not suited to this genre.

Great Story

The narrator’s voice. Not fitting for the setting, but absolutely enjoy the story. Looking forward to more books from the author.

Funny and entertaining

Story was good. Performs: meh. Narrator got mixed up a few times between her Scottish and American accents. But if they said “mayhap” once they said it 100 times. I started cringing every time I heard it.

If I never hear the word “mayhap” again, it will be too soon

The story was ok. Hard to tell with the horrible narration. Must have been better than I thought. I skipped forward a few times. But I did finish it. Would even consider listening to the next in the series if not for the narrator.
