A proper lady must choose between society or the untitled gentleman who has stolen her heart in this captivating Regency romance perfect for fans of Bridgerton.

Ned Wentworth will be forever grateful to the family that plucked him from the streets and gave him a home, even though polite society still whispers years later about his questionable past. Precisely because of Ned’s connections in low places, Lady Rosalind Kinwood approaches him to help her find a lady’s maid who has disappeared.

Rosalind is too opinionated—and too intelligent—and has frequently suffered judgment at the hands of polite society. Despite her family’s disdain for Ned, Rosalind finds he listens to her and respects her. Then too, his kisses are exquisite. As the investigation of the missing maids becomes more dangerous, both Ned and Rosalind will have to risk everything—including their hearts—if they are to share the happily ever after that Mayfair’s matchmakers have begrudged them both.

Love that the series follows the characters as they grow and evolve. Love that the vernacular is authentic. “I cannot abide …” instead of “I can’t stand.” The subtle humor is appreciated, too.

Great story. Love the characters..

James Langton created an excellent performance as usual. Thank goodness for this team. Balm after some of the clunkers I’ve listened to recently.

Ned’s story is great and tells a full story on its own. From rags to stability.

Grace Burrowes is masterful at creating perfectly delightful imperfect characters...and in making her readers/listeners love those characters. This book is chock full of imperfect characters...and I loved every one of them. Grace Burrowes is one of the few authors who can surprise me during the story. I become so engrossed in the listening...and surprises are inevitable. James Langdon is the absolute best narrator for this series. There is so much variation in his voice depictions....just amazing. Thank you GB and JL for another delightful listen.
