I couldn’t get into this book but after seeing the positive reviews I listened to the first two chapters twice and then really got into it. But the title is a misnomer. Basically there are two sisters. One has a kid and a husband and a lower level job. The other has a great job but no child and her marriage fell apart. She has an accident and her sister‘s child ends up dead. About 90% of the book is them coping with the fall out including the trial. I guess the title refers to the fact that the latter sister raised the former for several years while they were children but I don’t think the title really fits the book. Regardless a pretty good story.

I had big hopes for this book and there was a lot to like. Interesting topic. Compelling characters especially the sisters. I think more could have been done drawing out their husbands. The twists were fun but at least one was predictable.
I’m glad I read it and would recommend it to others.

Loved the twists

This story was gut wrenching. The author actually did a great job with the writing and I enjoyed the book. But I would be hesitant to tell someone else to read it just because of how heartbreaking it is. From the first page to the last page you just ache for the characters. I did not feel it was a legal thriller though. The trial was a background setting, not the focus of the story. The twists were haunting but not entirely unpredictable. So if you love getting drawn in and taken along for all of the emotions, this one is for you.
