Jenna O’Donnell wants three things: to live in Tamarack, Alaska, for the rest of her life; for Ted Godfrey to fall into a glacial crevasse; and Brad Fraser.

Brad Fraser wants three things: to leave Tamarack and never return; for his coworker, Ted Godfrey, to be fired; and to never, ever fall in love.

But Brad tempts fate when he takes Jenna out for a night of owl watching, and once he spends time alone with her, his carefully planned escape from both the frigid north and the fiery waitress is no longer simple.

I enjoyed Brad and Jenna’s friends to lovers romance. The story had a wonderful mix of sweet, steamy, and real life issues. Jenna lives in small town Tamarack Alaska. She the caretaker for her dad and works in the local bar. She loves her town and never plans to leave. Brad works at the local Raptor training facility. Jenna has had a crush on Brad for three years but assumes he’s not interested. Brad is interested but has no desire to stay in this town so refuses to get involved. Until a visit to see a nearby great horned owl’s nest together changes everything. Despite being short, the story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters, deep emotions, and an interesting storyline. I am excited to read more in this series and see what happens with Alec and Isabel.

Nicol Zanzarella did a wonderful job narrating the stories and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.
