Once upon a time, in a more carefree life, I met a man. Our gazes connected over the top of his newspaper as he watched me suffer through the most embarrassing moment of my life. Older, sophisticated, and so very hot, he saved me from that awkward encounter, then tried to send me away with a pat on my head. But I wasn’t going anywhere—and the rest, as the saying goes, is history...passionate, heart-stopping, the night-of-my-life kind of history. There was just one tiny problem: I lied to him.

I told him I was a tourist and only in town for one night. So he wasn’t too impressed when I turned up again...in his Scottish castle—yes, his freakin’ castle—with his killer suit traded for a kilt and his seductive smile for a frown. When he glowers my way, I don’t know if I should be worried or turned on—because the Duke of Dalforth has secrets he’s not sharing...and a brother who’d like nothing more than to cut in on him.

When I do the wrong thing for the right reason, I have to believe it’ll work out in the end...because the duke is No Ordinary Gentleman and I’m just a normal girl, fighting not to fall in love with him.

I noticed some people said that this book was too descriptive. I thought that books can never really be too descriptive and thank goodness I was right. There’s not only beautiful descriptions of Scottish landscapes but also characters inner dialogue which helped flesh out characters and motives. Really fun listen.

Loved it.

This book is full of love with the perfect amount of angst. The knowledge and description of the Scottish culture is so engaging. The story has so much depth and perfect spice. This is a book you do not want to pass up. I’m not one to write reviews, but this author definitely deserves one with this book. Also, should I mention this is my second time listening to this book? There is nothing better than visiting a book you loved the first time and enjoyed it possibly more the second time. I’m sure with time I’ll listen again. If you love a good love story with spice, perfect angst, and a plot that keeps you guessing this is for you.

One of my favorite book ever!

This is the first Donna Alam story that I’ve come across, and though I love her writing style, the story has way too much detail in some places and probably could’ve been shortened to about 12 hours. But I loved the deep British and Scottish brogue! That is what kept me listening through the too-long story.

Great Narration & Steamy Scenes

So many twists and turns in this story. I couldn’t figure out how it was going to go. Donna always keeps me on my toes. Her characters love so well and are never perfect. They are perfectly flawed and we love them.

So many turns
