But it is graphic because the author believes her story must be told the way it happened. Dislike the narration

Overall a good listen, but using virtual voice to narrate took away the impact of this emotional journey.

This memoir must’ve taken a lot of courage to write. I’m proud of the author.

Earnest, necessary voice

I’m grateful I came across this story. Though it was difficult to digest at times; this world needs to stop glossing over the very real, traumatic details of what happens to its children and survivors across the world.

Listening to all of the mental and verbal abuse used to make Viga feel like she was the digesting one with something wrong with her, I kept thinking, “…this is why language matters!”
I’m so glad she found her voice, but I’m not a fan of AI voice-read books. It misread several things.

Hard to listen to

This book was hard to listen to because of the horrible sexual abuse this woman had to go through during her childhood and early adulthood. I suffered through some sexual abuse when I was just a child, but it was nothing compared to this. I feel such empathy for her and such horror at what she had to endure. This lady was so brave in baring her story, and I hope she has achieved some healing through doing it. I admire her so much for using her story to help others who may be suffering, or has suffered, thru child sexual abuse! She is a very strong and courageous woman!

Moving and informing

I have spent time while reading this book wanting to just wrap this woman in my arms and comfort her. This is the most heartbreaking story that this woman has lived through. I absolutely hate that her father never went to jail for his actions. I’d have loved prison justice to play out on her father. Child abuse must be faced straight on and with our full attention or it perpetrates and the abusers hide in plain sight. May God punish this man forever.
