Jane Austen's first novel, Northanger Abbey, published posthumously in 1818, tells the story of Catherine Morland and her dangerously sweet nature, innocence, and sometime self-delusion.

Though Austen's fallible heroine is repeatedly drawn into scrapes while vacationing at Bath and during her subsequent visit to Northanger Abbey, Catherine eventually triumphs, blossoming into a discerning woman who learns truths about love, life, and the heady power of literature. The satirical Northanger Abbey pokes fun at the Gothic novel while earnestly emphasizing caution to the female sex.

Jane Austen wrote with so much sass! The ending is tied up with a precious little literary bow.

Elizabeth Klett (narrator) is extremely gifted in subtly conveying, through tone and inflection, Austen's elegantly phrased angst of teenaged love, parental successes and missteps, and the cultural norms of her time with humor and kindness.

Sassy Author, with Elegant, Understated Narrator

I really love Northanger Abbey and all of Austen's books. I've read Northanger Abbey myself at least twice and listening to this novel being read was very enjoyable mainly because the narrator, Elizabeth Klett, is excellent. She has a wonderful English accent and uses different voices for the characters. If you love Jane Austen, you will love this audio book.

I should be able to send this back! It’s awful! I would like a credit for this. Waste of money.
