Pride, Pemberley, and Second Chances

When history-loving Olivia Bennett’s teaching contract isn’t renewed, she is considered her family’s logical choice to care for her ailing grandmother in a tiny English village. While there, she soon finds additional work at nearby Hartbury Hall—one of England’s great houses once used as Pemberley in a filmed production of Pride and Prejudice. The head gardener there, however, proves to be anything but the gentlemanly hero of that famous book. Little does she know that behind Liam Browne’s brusque exterior is both a family tragedy and a legacy that demands truth and honor, creating a crisis that only Liv’s vivacious determination can resolve. Along the way, she may just learn that appearances count for naught...and that love can be found in unexpected ways.

A contemporary Christian romance that leans into the Austen fandom. After Liv is passed ove for a permanent teaching position, she travels from Australia to England to care for her grandmother who is recovering from hip surgery. While seeking to revamp her life, Liv meets the cantankerous caretaker of the local estate. Once she realizes that the house is intregal to the life of the village, she starts a community effort to bring the old home back to it's former glory--even if the handsome but grumpy caretaker doesn't believe she can make a difference.

It seems like an intriguing storyline. I'm about five chapters in and having to quit. I will try to read the actual book if I ever have time. My review is basically for the audio. It feels rushed, and it's hard to tell who's talking. Dialogue it's hard to follow because I can't tell when the speaker switches.

I gave it four stars, since maybe it's just my preference of reader. I will try to go read the physical copy and then update my review.
