She built a fortress of power to hide her true nature. Now, she’s the prisoner of the one woman who can tear it all down.

Carys Vance is a CEO. An Ice Queen. A titan of industry who built her empire to escape her own biology. Her secret is a congenital disease she medicates with illegal, black-market suppressants: she’s an Omega. In a world where her kind are seen as property, her meticulously controlled life is her only defense.

But when a corporate rival’s treachery causes her suppressants to fail at a high-stakes gala, her secret is unleashed in a wave of scent that draws every predator in the room.

Her savior is the last person she would ever expect. Vexia is the monstrous Alpha enforcer of the Chthonian clan, an ancient warrior whose people were once enslaved by Carys's ancestors. Acting on instinct and duty, Vexia abducts Carys from the chaos, imprisoning her deep within a subterranean enclave. She sees Carys not as a woman, but as a political weapon—and the hated symbol of her people's oppression.

Forced together, they are bound by more than stone walls. They are fated mates, a biological truth that revolts them both. But when assassins breach the Chthonian fortress, it becomes clear that Carys is the target of a conspiracy that runs deeper than their ancestral hatred. A plot that could enslave every Alpha in their world.

To survive, they must forge an alliance. An Omega whose greatest weapon is her mind, and an Alpha whose body is a weapon. They are each other’s worst enemy and only hope. Trapped between a primal, undeniable bond and a world that wants to tear them apart, they must discover what is more dangerous: the conspiracy hunting them, or the savage, untamed passion igniting between them.

After the first few chapters and then up to chapter 11, it was very redundant with the characters self-dialogue. I almost gave up listening. But once it got into action instead of so much self-dialogue, it got a lot better.

There really isn't any mature content in this book, so with the violence and the small amount of spice, this book is only R rated.

While virtual voice for this book is better than some other virtual voice audiobooks, it's still hurts the story with mispronunciation of words, lack of emotion etc.

For a virtual voice, it was fairly ok. The story was ok. I think the story could have exploded into something much bigger and juicier but it was a pleasant listen.

Slightly underrated

Overall a good read, there were times where I wished we had a bit more vulnerability between the two main characters, they had a bit of it, but I feel adding in some extra fluff/soft moments would really sell their growing trust and feelings. Also the description says it is a spicy mature read, but didn't really feature any spice outside of a quick make out scene and tensions between the two MC's.

Now the story doesn't lose too much if you throw in more or take away the smut/sexual tension, but if the description is gonna advertise it I feel like it should be changed to some "mild spice".

It's good, the pacing is fantastic

zero spice or steam to the book. Interesting storyline. Some repetitiveness which was annoying but didn’t ruin the story.
