Sapphic fantasy romance with a monstrous twist . . .

RUGA KARRSDAUGHTER, dutiful orc princess with a heart of gold, has spent the years since her sister was elected queen serving the orc country of Torden. Her duties now include marrying an elf princess for a much-needed alliance against an outside threat.

ELKETH CERIDWEN, rakish elf princess with a penchant for chaos, has never lifted a finger in her life. Now that an engagement is sprung upon her by the stern elvish king, she has to fulfill a fifty-day betrothal period in Torden surrounded by strangers . . . unless she can wreak enough havoc to get sent back home.

These poor orcs don't know what they're in for.

Most of the negative responses to the book are about the characters’ personalities. Lila picked two very extreme personality types for both the orc and her bride so it’s very understandable that many people are turned off by one or both of them.

If that turns out to not be a problem for you then it’s a very tender love story and my main complaint is that the orc never does anything to really demonstrate her love except steadfastly supporting her bride, However the orc’s personality basically necessitates that this is the only thing she could do in any circumstance! Either the story needs adjustment to force her to step out of her comfort zone more dramatically for her lover or her personality needs adjustment. Aside from that, I missed not having one last spicy scene at the end when wrapping things up.

Still, I will check out more of Lila’s work in the hope that it only improves from here!

Really liked this when I read last year. Was so excited when I saw it was released on audio as well. Narrator was decent.

Enjoyed

This is an amazingly well written book. I hated Elketh for most of the book but buy the end I understood her better. Ruga was amazing and a likable MC. It was a really good book and worth the credit and time.

I need a part 2!

I enjoyed this book. The performance was great, the story was fairly predictable, but it was wonderful to hear a story about two brown-skinned fantasy women falling in love. The story starts off a bit rough because one of the main characters is not terribly likable, but the romance is sweet and the spicy scenes are delightful.

Cute sapphic fantasy

I really enjoyed this story, although at first I thought I'd hate it. the character development, the romance, the friction between the two FMCs was chefs kiss!
