Queer princesses. Need I say more? Yes? The story was thrilling, the characters were layered and not too cliché, and the performance was delightful.

Frustrating Lead, Idiot Supporting Characters

I don’t think I’ve read a more slavishly “proper” lead in a fantasy romance novel in my entire life. She never makes a good or cathartic desicion for nearly the entire book. And the entire royal counsel seems cartoonishly inept. That could be chocked up to a specific tone, but the two leads and other side characters point out how uncharacteristically dumb their choices and behavior are. Not a very fun read, especially after reading the prequel novel first.

Slow burn but worth it

The narrators were fantastic! They really did great bringing you into the story. The story was great but also if you read a lot, it has the classic character arcs and storyline but the devil is in the details and the world building was great. The love story here was wonderfully drawn out with the tension well placed and left you wanting more. It's not easy to find lesbian stories but this was well done and I'm looking forward to listening to the next.
