For fans of epic fantasy… with a slow-burn sapphic twist.

Rebellious Princess Natasia has always known her role: marry a man her father can shape into his heir. But when an assassin nearly takes Tasia's life, everything changes. Someone powerful wants to destabilize the Empire, but who? With no noble family above suspicion, the Emperor takes the extraordinary step of naming his daughter heir. The carefree princess must learn to rule an empire, while enemies circle on every side.

Enter Joslyn, an accomplished swordswoman, assigned to protect Tasia and teach her self-defense. Everywhere Tasia goes, Joslyn follows -- and Tasia resents her presence. But war looms, accusations of treason fly, and angry lords threaten rebellion. One truth becomes clear: Joslyn might be the only one Tasia can trust.

With the Empire on the brink of chaos, can Tasia rise to the occasion -- or will she watch it fall?

As a lover of fantasy, I found the book and tale wonderful and engaging.
As a straight happily married male I found the sexual escapades of the characters a little heavy handed, but I am also open minded enough to allow the author some artists leave.
I am pretty sure I will listen to the next in the series.

Great fantasy tale

This book has it all. Medieval politics, weird unexplained things looming in the horizon, scheming and betrayals, and a queer princess at the helm of it all. I honestly couldn't have asked for more. I am a big fan of this genre (have read all the A Song of Ice and Fire books) and I must say it was a treat reading this one too. And yes, it is somewhat like the Game of Thrones books (but less confusing tbh). So if that's your thing, I highly recommend you give this book a chance. I can't wait for the next one! 😊

Best book I've read in a long time
