Off Season is book 3 in the Nashville Fury series. It’s a second chance, sports romance.

While I still enjoyed Bryce and Lucy’s story, it was my least favorite. It was a rough path filled with emotional turmoil and tension. I was frustrated that they still couldn’t find a way to make it work. Something came up one too many times, and I started to loose interest. Overall, a decent story and I’m glad they found their happy every after.

Lessa Lamb and Duncan Prescott did a nice job portraying the characters in this book.

What a wonderful second chance book. I did like their story as each character had their own reason for doing things. I was not a huge fan of Bryce. He just seemed to become so self involved he forgot her. It was nice to see the growth of their characters. I would love to see their besties get together. Narration was well done. Leesa Lamb and Duncan Prescott portrayed their parts well.

So dramatic (fun!)

After ‘Off Track’ was so cute, of course I needed this one.

Written in first-person POV, alternating.
Present tense.
Alternating timelines - between their high school years and their “now” (early-mid 20s) years.

This is your typical: boy meets girl, boy leaves girl, boy pines for girl, ruining his life in the process, in some ways, but it’s different in others. Either way, it’s super cute and a great read to bring along on work, and mundane tasks—it definitely improved them!

Second-chance romance.
Other man drama.
He’s a football star.
Small town.
Intervention-ish.
Fresh starts.
Lots of juicy drama.
Angst.
Lovers to friends.

Overall:
The MMC was infuriating, and … the FMC wasn’t a strong lead at all—still, if you love drama, this is worth the read, as there’s no shortage of that! I also appreciate an author who isn’t afraid to write imperfect leads.

3.5 stars.

Continuity could’ve been tighter - examples:
It’s set in the U.S., but legal drinking age is portrayed as 18.
Luciano and “Lulu” are engaged but have never even kissed?
Overall there were a few little things like this—nothing terrible, but it could’ve just been a bit tighter.

This is a fantastic audiobook, flawless all-around, sound-wise. 5 stars.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧Engrossing & Emotional

It is great to be back in Chelle Sloan’s “Nashville Fury” world again for another terrific sports romance, an enthralling and emotionally moving second-chance romance. This third book in the series features Lucy Valenti and Bryce Donald, and their relationship began when she became his tutor in high school, and an unlikely friendship between the athlete and the mathlete developed before morphing into something more. The problem was Bryce could not give her more because his focus was his promising football career, and all else fell by the wayside, including Lucy. He makes it to the big leagues, but his life spirals out of control, and the team pulls him from the roster and places him on medical leave. Bryce seriously needs to work on himself and his mental health, and he goes back home. Finding out his first and only love, Lucy, had moved on was just another blow. Lucy was engaged, but she wasn’t feeling the love, but it is hard to fall in love with someone when your heart is with someone else. My heart broke for Lucy, for how her family treated her, and Bryce was no better, but thankfully her bestie was there for her. Lucy was always Bryce’s rock and sound of reason, and Lucy, being Lucy, was there for Bryce in his time of need. Holy moly, Chelle Sloan sure made these two work for their happily ever after, a bumpy road, but I loved how it all fell into place in the end. I enjoyed how their story was told, getting glimpses into their past that brought them to where they were in the present day. The cleverly plotted, multi-layered story had a perfect balance of drama, angst, some heartwarming and charming moments, profound emotions, and a slow-burn but so worth the wait romance. Chelle Sloan, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧  Duncan Prescott and Lessa Lamb's fabulous performance takes this already terrific story to another level. They embodied their characters completely, giving each a voice that was fitting to their personality. Lessa Lamb was a natural in Lucy’s role, showcasing her kind and caring soul, and Prescott did the same as Bryce and was just as wonderful in showcasing his personality and demeanor, including his inner turmoil. They were expressive in conveying all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. It is a pleasure to listen to these two entertaining storytellers, and their captivating performance keeps you hooked the entire time

Book 3 - Nashville Fury series

This is book 3 in Sloan's Nashville Fury series. A great addition to the series that can be read / listened to as a standalone. The dual narration by Prescott and Lamb really helped to bring the main character of Bryce and Lucy to life. Sloan delivers a sweet with heat, sports themed romance that spans years. Bryce and Lucy become a brief if powerful couple in high school and Bryce falls hard...only he has pressures that few do as he is on the fast track to sports stardom. Promise after promise is made. My heart broke for both of these characters, but I love that the hurt they underwent made them grow and become not just better individuals but better together as well. I did think there was a chapter towards the end that threw me back in the past and made me wonder if my audio had misfunctioned and there was some repetition, but overall, I really enjoyed the storyline, and characters. I also really enjoyed the balance of sweet, heat and humor and Slaon pulled all the emotions from me in this one. Definitely looking forward to more from Sloan and this series!
