Conscription and death. That is the sword of Damocles hanging over every peasant's head. As the realm gets overrun by bloodthirsty Beasts, every family has to pitch in.

And so, to spare his father and siblings, Ferren offers to be the one from their household to join the king's army.

But during an escort mission, Ferren's convoy is attacked and his right arm ripped off by a ferocious monster.

By some miracle, Ferren survives the ordeal and is sent back home, at the borderlands, to nurse his wounds. Worry begins to settle in, especially with the way his missing limb starts itching and burning.

Soon, he is shocked to find dark purple scales growing on his skin, and his stump getting bigger by the day. In a matter of a few weeks, a new arm has regrown. Looks like, somehow, he inherited some of the powers from the Beast he encountered, and he can now change his arm into any tool or weapon he's familiar with. Not only that, he will learn he can also gain new abilities and forms for his arm by killing more monsters.

Ferren will use his newfound skills to help with the family farm, but also to protect them and the people living nearby as the waves of attacks increase. But will that be enough?

When I got this book I was not sure about it. But as I went through the story it started to impress me. Every time I thought the story might ver off into a standard cliché it didn’t. Even though there turn out to be a few things that was quite predictable the overall effect was quite good.

Very Impressive

Story is pretty freaking awesome! I love the concept its kinda like venom mixed with green lantern minus the alternate sentient personality and ring. Narrator did a very good job in my opinion. His voice sounds bad ass. People say his voice sounds too old but I’m 24 years old and have an extremely deep voice much like the narrator. My brother is 28 and his voice is even deeper than the narrators and has been since he was in high school. Truly interesting story that is quite unique. Never read/listened to something quite like it. And yes I did both I listen to books when I’m at work or driving but I prefer reading when I’m at home since I read much faster in my head than narrators of audio books could ever. Couldn’t put this one down! Finished it in 4.5 hours!

Complaints about narrator are unfounded.

Initially ignored it because of the young MC, but he showed more maturity and responsibility than most MC in different stories. Narrator was also impressive, no problems here. Really glad I tried this book, getting the next.

Glad I took a chance. Very well done!

Loved the evolving main character, how he goes from losing his arm to being a powerful weapon
