According to the courts, Jacko Argyle bludgeoned his mother to death with a poker. The sentence was life imprisonment. But when Dr. Arthur Calgary arrives with the proof that confirms Jacko’s innocence, it is too late—Jacko died behind bars following a bout of pneumonia. Worse still, the doctor’s revelations reopen old wounds in the family, increasing the likelihood that the real murderer will strike again.

Enjoyed the story

I really enjoyed this Christie book. Always Hugh Fraser is the best narrator of books. I didn't guess the murderer and I am enjoying that fact. I was at first disappointed that there wasn't a Poirot, but it was even better.

Re: Excellent Story

I had never heard of this story by Miss Christie & I’ve always loved everything I’ve read or heard of hers. This was no exception & I liked the narration.

Not the best!

I love love love Agatha Christie books especially when Hugh Fraser is the narrator.
This one was somewhat disappointing though I really feel like there were too many voices that frankly kind of got mixed up!
Sometimes I thought he was doing a man’s voice when really he was doing one of the women’s voices and the storyline just didn’t flow very well.

The ending was definitely a let down and I thought it was thrown together -not one of her best.
