A parable is a comparison of two things telling us about the one through familiarity with the other.

Thirty-plus parables Jesus gave us are reviewed, plus a few short sayings of his that are also marked as parables, each one having a short and concise summery after it. The parables that Jesus gave us can be categorized as teaching parables, kingdom parables, and prophetic and warning parables.

The audiobook orders the parables in a logical teaching progression that they were given to us over the ministry of Jesus, also showing the relevance of why it was given at that time.

We should all become familiar with the parables Jesus gave us, for the book of Proverbs that Solomon wrote is oftentimes referred to as the book of wisdom. And now a greater one than Solomon is here (Jesus Christ) - Matthew 12:42. Therefore, how much greater will be our blessing be when we understand the parables Jesus gave us?

The audiobook ends by showing a few parables from the Old Testament and their usage, some which are marked parables and some which are not.

Even though I’ve read these parables many times. The author brought more insight into each one, giving me a fresh perspective. It’s clear and to the point.

Paul Halbeck does a good job of expanding on the symbolism behind the parables. Some I never thought of before.

Christopher Boucher narrated the audiobook with great diction.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Listener received this title free

I received this book for free but leave this review of my own accord.

I was excited by the concept of this book and it very well may be something I go back and give another listen at some later time, but I found the analysis of the parables to be lacking. The author didnt seem to go very deep into each one. A couple of the more complicated ones get some extra attention since he breaks them down a bit before explaining, but I was really just hoping for more.
The narration was clean. No editing errors or anything, but the narrator was so bland it may as well have been Siri doing it.

Not very deep

Lots of scripture. One thing this book does that not all books on scripture does, is when he references a verse he quotes the scripture. Through this book, Halbeck runs many parables and then backs up his understanding of them with other verses. This book is short and good for anyone whether you are a bible scholar or just starting to read the bible.
