The captivating and unforgettable saga of the Dollanganger family continues in Petals On the Wind, the New York Times bestselling sequel to Flowers in the Attic and the inspiration behind the Lifetime original movie and “tortured love story” (Variety).

Forbidden love comes into full bloom. For three years they were kept hidden in the eaves of Foxworth Hall, their existence all but denied by a mother who schemed to inherit a fortune. For three years their fate was in the hands of their righteous, merciless grandmother. They had to stay strong…but in their hopeless world, Cathy and her brother, Christopher, discovered blossoming desires that tumbled into a powerful obsession. Now, with their frail sister, Carrie, they have broken free and scraped together enough for three bus tickets and a chance at a new life. The horrors of the attic are behind them…but they will carry its legacy of dark secrets forever.

I read the Dollanganger series several times as a teenager and loved them. It was still very enjoyable to listen to because it was so “cherished” when I was younger. However, I am now horrified to understand that of the four major loves of Cathy’s life, literally all of them either raped her or hit her….and all are supposed to be “wonderful” men. This would never fly in 2023, and that’s a good thing. Still, great trip down memory lane.
Narrator was decent, but affectations of the male voices was difficult to stomach

A bit more disturbing through adult eyes

This series has me ENTHRALLED
Enjoyed narration and sometimes couldn’t believe different characters were voiced by same narrator!

Very well written. Completely draws you in. But boy is the content disturbing and twisted.

Also, the narrator sounded familiar. It kept reminding me of something and then it finally clicked. When she is doing the voice of Cathy as a teen, she sounds like Jaclyn white from the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. I had to envision her as the character for half of the book so now you get to as well. You’re welcome.

Well that was disturbing

I did not like the narration. I loved this book as a kid many years ago but it has lost something over the years…

You can’t go back
