Not the VC Andrews I remember

I was a fan of VC Andrews in the early 80s in the era of Flowers in the Attack, Heaven, and My Sweet Audrina. I read several novels penned by the ghost writer after her death. After a while it felt like her formula was just being regurgitated over and over so I stopped reading them. I ran across this series in Audible and decided to give it a try. Sadly, it is a pale copy of the old formula, good sibling vs bad sibling, crazy mother, absent father, twisted love interests. What made it harder to listen to was the monotone narration. I purchased all three audio books at the same time, so will give book two a chance to pick up the pace.
