“Chalk up another winner for [John Sandford] and his all-too-human hero” (Richmond Times-Dispatch) in the #1 New York Times bestselling Prey series.
After one troubled college-age student disappears and two are found slashed to death, Lucas Davenport finds himself hunting what appears to be a modern-day Jack the Ripper. Unfortunately the clues aren’t adding up—and then there’s the young Goth girl who keeps appearing and disappearing. Where does she come from? Where does she go every night? And why does Lucas keep getting the sneaking suspicion that there is something else going on here? Something very bad, very dark, and as elusive as a phantom…

The narrator's female impersonation was a bit cheesy. Other than that it was smooth and enjoyable. They should use two narrators in books with lots of dialogue.

Good book if a bit boilerplate

I didn’t realize this was an abridged copy. It was very confusing and a huge disappointment after listening to unabridged audio books of all the earlier Prey books in the series.

Terrible Abridged

I've been a Lucas Davenport fan for years, but this one just didn't 'do it' for me. It was pretty dull. Usually there is an edginess and anticipation to the series, but here I just didn't feel it. I felt as though the writer was bored with it and well... so was I. Usually I like the audio version of the series when Eric Conger reads it but Richard Ferrone was chosen and I just don't like him as Davenport as much. I was disappointed.
