Samantha

Jase Andrews is trouble...but the best kind. Too gorgeous for his own good, the former professional athlete is every woman's dream, including mine. I need to stay away, but he's relentless. Most girls want Jase because of who he is, but that's exactly why I don't want to get involved. A guy like him and a girl like me are bound to fumble.

His panty-melting smile is so hard to resist...until one day, I don't. I give in and say yes to my boss's cocky best friend. His charming determination wears me down, and once I realize what I've been missing, there is no going back. Now we're a team, and thanks to his insatiable drive, our squad is growing.

Jase

The minute I lay eyes on her, I know she will be mine. I want her, even though my best friend warns me to stay away from his assistant. Samantha Wilson is smart, gorgeous, and not afraid to call me out. She's perfect. A refreshing change from all the women who threw themselves at me when I was in the professional league.

Not Samantha. She turns me down. Every. Single. Time. For nearly a year. It makes me want her even more. I'm not giving up, I've got plays for days, and I'm not afraid to use them.

When she finally says yes. My life is turned upside down in ways I can't imagine - get ready for the play by play.

I had these books in my Kindle, but never got to reading them. I liked the story, however, I am not too thrilled about the narrators. It's like they were reading a documentary, not a romance story. I get that maybe this is their way and the author wanted it that way, but I was a bit annoyed.

Nice story..

I picked this story as a wrap up to the Soul Serenade series. This Jake is Lauren's little brother who was playing college ball in her story. My only complaint is that the timeline feels off a bit. He's now retired from a NFL career and ready for love. If you have not read the other series, you won't notice ant of this and enjoy everything about it. Jake definitely is a man who knows what he wants when he sees it.

Kaylee Ryan is capable of soul wrenching love stories, but this one is not it. It was a nice to see some of the other characters but the story is too short to really tie in his family background. For a short story/novella, it's well written and fun. It's a feel good romance with a HEA that is fairly well developed. In definitely glad I picked it up from Kaylee list.

My only complaint is in the narration. The male narrator was a bit annoying. He definitely does not have an alpha male voice to fit the characters and his female voice reminds me of a kid mocking their teacher. This would have been better in the hands of the female narrator, who is really good at male voices or being read on my Kindle. Nasally voices are are better suited for quirky males. Check out some samples before you invest time and money listening to the series.

Wishing it was longer..

Play by Play is a short novella, so for me it was a very quick read/listen.

The romance between Samantha and Jase had some charm, but due to the story's short length, I felt they went from Point A to Point B much too fast. Character growth and emotional development was lacking.

The dual narration was done well and it held my attention. I enjoyed the voices that were chosen for each character and felt they matched with what I would have imagined the characters to sound like.

In the end, while I didn't find myself invested in Play by Play's romantic storyline, I did enjoy the narration. I am also interested in reading about the other Riggins brothers in their individual full-length novels.

A quick listen

Loved the narration of Curt Bonnem and Elizabeth Hart, they flowed so well with the story and the characters. This a quick read that introduced me to the Riggins Brothers and their friends. Jase and Samantha's story was a sweet read that I enjoyed. Loved Royce and I can't wait for his story. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Sweet Story

A quick sweet story. There’s not a lot of excitement, but sweet just the same.
