Once his pursuit begins, nothing will stop him. And no one will be safe.

When newlyweds are hunted by machete-wielding maniac, their marriage vows will be tested by blood and horror.

Ava Allegretti lives with a dangerous secret. Her heart could give out under too much stress, making every moment of terror potentially her last. But nothing could prepare her for the savage predator who runs their car off the highway, trapping them miles from help.

But the masked murderer on wheels isn't done yet. When he tracks her to a roadside diner and butchers everyone inside, Ava realizes this isn't random violence. It's personal.

Injured, desperate, and running out of places to hide, the couple must fight for their lives against a relentless pursuer determined to finish what he started.

Will death do them part before they can escape their honeymoon from hell?

Try to survive the night in this pulse-pounding slasher novel from James Kaine, author ofMy Pet Werewolf and Black Friday. And remember, if you hear the sound of the motorcycle...RUN!

3.5 The trouble with Friday the 13th rip-offs is they always feel the need to add some kind of elaborate metaphor when people want an old-school, violent action movie. So the fact that Pursuit is an old-school "Jason meets The Terminator" slasher is refreshing. This one kind of reminds me of Cameron Roubique’s Kill River series in that it's unpretentious and focused on action and character. A supernatural zombie biker becomes fixated on a pair of newlyweds and makes their life a living hell with a high body count. The biker details were interesting, the police station scene was memorable, and just good fun.

Surprisingly Solid Survival Slasher

I love the relentless pursuer villain type and this book certainly did it right. Think Jason meets Sons of Anarchy and you have your villain. The kills were well done and well described and the suspense almost never let up. My only gripe is with some of the dialogue and particular part describing how someone’s head looked, it just felt odd. Still a 5 star though.

Relentless Pursuer done right!

**Pre-listen Impressions: Short Horror book with strong slasher vibes. Summary reminds me of a cross between the hitcher and Joyride (movies). Feeling both hopeful and reluctant.

**Initial Impression: Very underwhelmed for the 1st few chapters.

**Mid-Listen Impression: Story picks up from the 2nd act. Lots of action, lots of violence and carnage. I believe the novel earned its "Horror" creds here. While I didnt personally find it scary or horrifying. I cant lock down the exact reason, but I believe the narrators voice had alot to do with it. I feel like a deep voiced slightly ominous narrator really hammers home the horror.

**Post-listen impressions: I just listened to a cross between the Hitcher, Joyride, and The Terminator written by Riley Sager.

**Story: 3 Stars (Story was good. There seemed to be back story that didnt go anywhere, while also having potentially useful other backstories that werent fully formed. A solid horror story.)

**Narrator: 3 Stars (The narrators voice is beautiful and clear. She does multiple voices well. I just cant imagine her voice stirring fear in me, regardless of what she read.)

**Over All: 3 Stars

**I recieved this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Reminded me of a Riley Sager novel

What do you get when combine the two? A fun pursuit!!! This was a solid read about a girl being pursued by a guy on a motorcycle, only he’s so much more than that!
