But on Halloween when the hated professor Donegal Steele vanishes and his secretary turns up dead, Demarkian will have to do his homework to ensure Kasparian isn't the next victim.

Dated and irritating naration

This title is the perfect example of why a book having many female characters in it should hire a female voice actors. All of the female characters ended up sounding like shrill bitches or mindless idiots. Voice acting aside, the depiction of most of the women in the book were stereotypical and shallow. I tried to keep in mind that the book was written in the early 1990's, but I was in my early thirties at that time and I don't remember books I read having such ridiculous depictions of women, and almost every woman in this book was a caricature of a shrew. They mystery itself wasn't bad, but Demarkian (the lead character) wasn't very likable as well. Shoulda skipped it.
