A critical book at a critical time

Seriously, I could listen to Jeff Brown read the phone book, thankfully I didn’t have to. Jeff and Jesse’s book is fascinating from the jump.

The multiple references to Taleb’s views on a personal library made this one extra special for me, as Taleb is one my Top 3 favourite non-fiction authors.

As an off-and-on listener to the Read to Lead Podcast, I’ve been wanting to read this book since Jeff Brown first announced it would be coming out. When I saw it on Audible, I had to get it, and it did not disappoint. Not only did this book encourage me to keep reading the non-fiction books I’ve come to love, but it also showed exactly how to improve my reading habits and get more from reading. But perhaps the most valuable, and most surprising thing I learned from this book is the value of reading fiction. I read very little fiction, in fact, I thought it was just entertainment, and I’d consistently choose a different form of entertainment when I wanted to be entertained. But this book showed me that reading fiction will teach me how to be a better story teller - and I know from non-fiction books I’ve read, that being a better storyteller will improve marketing and sermon skills. So I’m sure that as a result of this book, I’ll be even more consistent on reading non-fiction books, and also will start reading fiction books for enjoyment. And hopefully, I’ll become a better storyteller.

A Must Read

Learned so much from this book. i would recommend this as required reading for all students going into 7th grade. At least it would have made a difference in my Jr-Sr HS Years.

Brimming with information.

The authors have great examples of why reading is the backbone of leadership. I recommend reading this book!
