Lucius Anoraq is getting paid to follow the mysterious and lovely canary, Sheila De Havilland. And wherever the canary goes, trouble seems to follow. Anoraq’s happy to do as he’s told, all in the name of chivalry. But one dead body later, and what started out as a lazy afternoon’s snooping soon becomes a deadly cocktail of blackmail, lies, mistaken identity, and murder.

Recap is definitely a mystery that is hard to figure out just when you believe you know who the villain is the author introduces a new character and new clues. Lucius are favorite hard boiled snarky P.I. gets a mystery call early in the morning offering him a job with very few details but it sounds fishy. The client sends his secretary to Lucius home with checks and a very detailed pack about the job but the info is more like a black ops mission (to much but not enough) for his liking.
Lucius get caught up in a world of blackmail, murder, mistaken identity, lies, and revenge. This book is an intense mysterious thrill ride that has many twist and turns that will whip you around trying to get a hold on the truth. I will give you one tiny spoiler the ending will surprise and delight Lucius Anoraq fans. I have nothing but high praise for narrator James Scott Spaid who has now become one of my favorite narrators he brings this story to life because his voice is perfect. I highly recommend this book and series to mystery lovers who like a twist. I received this book for free upon my request but it has no bearing on my honest unbiased review.

I enjoyed watching Lucius weave through the layers of deceit to get to the truth when people refuse to come clean. He's got integrity and a good heart. I liked the personal touch with Carl at the end. It makes Lucius even more likeable if that's possible. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.
