It's a long-awaited homecoming—but not everyone's happy about her return.

Five years ago, Tilly Taylors father did something that cost her everything. Her home. Her friends. And all the trust she'd ever earned. Now she's back, and ready to prove to everyone that she's nothing like Martin Taylor. Unfortunately, the small town of Misty Peak doesn't forgive or forget so easily. And when a murder occurs at Tilly's new workplace, proving her innocence gets even harder.

Kayden Walker likes his solitude. That's why working in the mountains suits him so well. They're his sanctuary. His safe place. So when a woman he doesn't trust is hired to work alongside him, its an adjustment he doesn't want to make. Only, no matter how much he tries to keep Tilly at a safe distance, he cant seem to get her sad green eyes out of his head. Despite their families' unfortunate history, Kayden finds himself playing savior to the last woman he should want to protect.

When dangerous things continue happening in his mountains, keeping her close becomes vital—for Tilly's safety and for Kayden's heart. Someone doesn't want her home—and they'll go to great lengths to make sure she's gone.

It happens every time I listen to Nyssa Kathryn. I am completely captivated and lose sleep just so I can hear what happens next! This is a fantastic, action packed, romantic suspense. First off, we have Tilly, coming home to Misty Peaks after the death of her mother. They had left town after her father had a ponzi scheme in town, leaving the community broke including his own family. Now she is back facing the ridicule and reputation of his actions. Kayden's family is one that was effected and at first, he too felt that anger towards Tilly, but quickly comes to realize she was not to blame. And while all this is going on, there is a robbery and a murder on the mountain! Of course there is speculation. Is Tilly back to help her father? Could there be a connection between the murder and Tilly? As their relationship struggles to get off the ground, more danger is lurking.Who is doing this? This is a roller coaster of a ride that is for sure! Tilly is a strong woman, able to let the disdain from others roll off her back for the most part. Her love for Kayden helps her through. Kayden is a tough one, not trusting easily, and he finds it hard to follow his heart. Add in his brothers and co-workers and it's a blast getting to know all the people in this small town. And I adore his niece! Can't wait to her the next one, sure to win my heart again.

Avery Caris and Jason Clarke are the narrators for this story and all I can say is WOW. Caris is amazing at keeping Tilly's emotions balanced. She is so strong and has so much to give, with Caris using her voice to bring it all out. Clarke is the frustrating yet undeniably easy to love Kayden. He gives him all the confusion, anger and love that makes this man real. I loved this pairing and can't wait to hear them together in the future.

Pretty good story. I wanted to read/listen to this story because I was interested in both how Tilly finds forgiveness for something that she had no control of and to see Kayden become less of a grump, if that’s even possible. I liked Tilly from the first time we are introduced to her in Reckless Hope, maybe because, since she returned to town, the town folk hated her, not for who she is but because of the things they don't know or understand and through the mean gossip and hateful looks and assaults, Tilly can stay sweet and kind all while being framed for a murder, an attack and a burglary.

The challenge of trust.

With this audiobook we are back in Misty Peak where the Walker brothers are finding love when least expected.
Tilly Taylor’s dad embezzled the residents of Misty Peak five years ago leaving many almost destitute. Shocked and hurt by what her husband did, Tilly’s mom moved away. Five years have gone by and when her mom dies, Tilly returns to the only place she called home as a child and the place her mom loved most. But few people have been kind to her as they believe she is just as guilty as her dad.
Kayden Walker might just be one of those that is resentful of Tilly. Especially since she’s been hired at his place of business. But as Kayden gets to know her and sees the injustices done to her, Kayden realizes Tilly is not to blame and a sort of friendship develops as well as feelings.
But what happens when Kayden believes the thin veil of trust he’s started to have with Tilly, is torn? What happens when the danger intensifies? Will Kayden realize his mistakes and be able to save Tilly?
This engaging story was about trust, hope, family and new beginnings.
The narrations of Avery Caris and Jason Clarke brought the story to life.
Making this another wonderful story by this talented author.
