A handler trusts her dog. A mountain holds them captive. A bond that will be tested by fire and ice.

Maya Ruiz and her K-9 partner, Echo, are a legendary search-and-rescue team, their bond forged in the unforgiving peaks of the high Rockies. For Maya, a former army medic haunted by the losses she couldn’t prevent, the work is more than a job—it’s a reason to live. Echo is more than a dog; she’s the partner who rescued her handler first.

But their well-honed skills are put to the ultimate test when a "Code One" alert shatters a perfect winter morning. A massive avalanche has obliterated a ski lodge, burying dozens of victims—including a group of children—under tons of snow and wreckage.

Ignoring protocol and a direct order from command, Maya trusts Echo's instincts, following the sable German Shepherd into an unstable, high-risk zone no one else dares to enter. They find the impossible: a child, buried deep but still alive. But just as hope dawns, the mountain shrugs again. A violent aftershock strikes, turning their rescue into a trap.

Now, Maya is critically injured, crippled and bleeding out in the snow. The child is buried deeper than ever. And the only one left standing is Echo.

Faced with an impossible choice, Maya must send her fiercely loyal partner away, a command that goes against every instinct they both share. Echo becomes the last hope for everyone on the ridge. But can one dog, injured and alone, conquer an indifferent mountain and bring back help in time?

Perfect for fans of gripping survival thrillers, page-turning suspense, and unforgettable stories of the incredible bond between humans and animals. Rescue Dogs - Echo in the Avalanche is a breathtaking story of loyalty, courage, and the dog who would not quit.

This is by far the best book you've written, that I've read so far! I'd love to see more stories with these characters. I really enjoyed that this focused on the work and dedication involved in rescue training and career. Well done.

Wonderful story

I didn’t like the AI voice, too monotone. I would prefer the story read by a human who can infect emotion in his voice.

The training and bonding it takes to do SAR

I think this story felt real. I very much appreciate that it was about the rescue and the relationship between canine and human. I also very much appreciate that they didn’t try to turn a love story into a canine rescue story
