Highborn and privileged, Valeria has never known life outside her father's Roman fortress. But when Hadrian's Wall falls, Valeria's world shatters.

Ripped from her bed, she's captured by savages. Terrified, she prays her betrothed will mount a rescue. But it is the enemy, a Pict with Celtic tattoos and hair of fire who wields his sword and fights for her freedom.

When she seeks refuge in the warrior's stronghold, the Picts eye her with distrust and force her to earn her keep as a commoner. But the longer Valeria remains, the more agonizing it becomes to conceal her burning love for the Celtic warrior.

Contains mature themes.

Thanks for such a lovely story. I did enjoy listening to it and would have love to know an epilogue of when they had kids together, etc.

Fascinating historical account of Emperor Hadrian’s Wall in Britain. Wonderful story woven around the Romans, the Picts and other tribes living in the UK around 300AD. Strong heroine- lots of action. Good narrative. I couldn’t stop listening!
Both books (#2- Deceived by a Celtic Spy) were excellent! Highly recommend.

Excellent Story!

With a cover photo like that I thought there would be a bit more steam. It seemed like there could have been a bit more time devoted to the main couple when they actually were able to be alone together, which did not seem to happen as much. Did really enjoy a new & different perspective of Celtic & Roman time and living. Really enjoyed the characters, character development and story though. Will look to see if more stories are following on these characters, would read more. I found this book as it was on sale so it was nice to find a good story and on sale as a weekend read.

The cover photo didn’t completely match the story but great story.
