Lord Desmond risks the wrath of his cousin, hoping to save Lady Marina from a fate worse than death. He will stop at nothing to ensure that Lady Marina does not marry his cousin, even if it costs him his own life.

First off the narrator was bland and seemed bored and after I finished the book I can understand why. The story didn’t make sense even taking in account of the social restrictions of that time, after all. Her father was a Duke and not impoverished.
