Before the dungeons, before the dragons, there is the party....

Valeran is bored. Corbett is broke. Andreton and Donald are on the run and Dorian just wants to do what is right. Not the best recipe for a questing group but when you are driven by prophecy sometimes the mix is decided for you.

Action, razor sharp humour, and a smart, character-driven plot are the hallmarks of an Eddie Skelson adventure and he delivers it all in this story of an absurd fantasy world.

A very fun and entertaining tale. An unlikely group of would-be heroes having to figure out a way to work together to deal with challenges and, mmm their own inner demons, so to speak. It has banter, wit and flawed characters that have to learn to accept each other. There are enough surprises to keep you guessing without getting complicated or confusing. With an amazing narrator to bring it all to life. (Honestly, I just finished the book andI had to scroll up to see if it was a man or woman narrator because she did such a fantastic job voicing both). Overall a really great book. This is my third time relistening and it is still a thrilling jaunt.

Really a well written and fun story.

A ripping good yarn. Fast-paced and variaty. interesting cast of characters all with their flaws and strengths. Excellent dialogue writing. there is a conclusion but it's a hanging story that has the reader wanting more. What happens to the good writers? Where have they gone?

This book and another of Skelson's books, "Crowley the Ravensblack affair book 1" are in my list of favorites that I can reread when I can't find anything else good that's new. audible does not show all of Skelson's books under his name don't ask me why.

I want the sequel
