Lydia Palmer seems to have it all—a thriving business, a beautiful house, a picture-perfect husband, and two wonderful kids. But things are different behind closed doors—Lydia is desperately unhappy and wants a divorce. Then, shockingly, her husband, Adam, dies.

When her grief eases, Lydia starts online dating and almost immediately meets Patrick. Handsome, successful, and loving, he’ll make the perfect second husband.

But is Patrick too good to be true? Can you really find prince charming online?

These are questions Lydia is forced to ask when her world begins to collapse. First, the police say Adam may have been murdered. Then, her daughter turns against her, and her business disintegrates.

Lydia is convinced that someone is trying to destroy her happiness. But she’s wrong—they want so much more than that...

I enjoyed every page of this psychological thriller. The storyline was engaging, and the characters were nuanced. I finished it in less than a day, and I'm currently deciding which of Miranda Rijks' other books to read next.

Fast paced and very entertaining

I cannot get enough of my British books and as luck would have it, Audible has a spectacular sale at this time and all books are on special. “Roses Are Red” was my first selection. Lydia Palmer's life seems perfect, but we know about “closed doors.” When her husband Adam dies, Lydia’s world is turned upside-down. She meets Patrick; is he too good to be true? Both author Miranda Rijks and narrator Helen Day are a superb duo, bringing their creativity together with skill and precision. Secrets, insidious scheming, twisty turns; I was ecstatic. Rijks’ riveting plot and Day’s captivating narration make this audiobook well-paced and intriguing. For those who enjoy British psychological thrillers as much as I do, “Roses Are Red” is for you. I have collected other audiobooks by Rijks and I’ll be on the search for more. Highly recommended. Epic, indeed!

{{{I did figure out part of the the ending to an extent, however, it is still worth a satisfying listen – that’s just how audictive it is}}}
