Is Harlow Hayes an innocent popstar or a heartless murderer?
It's time to find out...
I’m a global sensation adored by millions, and my star only seems to keep rising.
My fans say I speak directly to them through my music, that I know who they are. How else could I write such visceral, personal lyrics? They love me, and I love them right back.
Then, at the height of my fame, I was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The world thinks they know who I am.
But they have no idea.
A twisty, salacious thriller that will keep you hooked from start to finish, perfect for fans of Ellery Lloyd and Holly Jackson.
And if you loved RUMOURED, don't miss SCANDAL, the twisted new thriller from The Mancaruso Sisters, perfect for those who loved A Flicker in the Dark, The Perfect Marriage and Luckiest Girl Alive.

Harlow Hayes is arrested on the suspicion of murdering two people, if not more, and it is Naomi's task to write an article for her employer about the goings on in the case. What she doesn't realize is that there is much more to this story than meets the eye.

I was not expecting Harlow to actually have been the killer but it was actually Naomi's sister in her place. I should have seen that coming because these books typically have twists just like this. I feel kind of silly for not seeing the buildup before now but oh well. It is what it is, I suppose.
I can't stand Naomi, now that I've had some time to sit and think on it. She was so rude to the one person who showed any romantic interest in her. It was such a shame to see her callous behavior but that's just me. I was happy to be done with it just to get away from her.
I normally don't say things like that about FMCs but this is the one exception. I was not impressed with how Naomi was portrayed, especially with the article that landed her in such hot water. I was definitely not surprised to find out that she got numerous death threats. I'd expect that, honestly.
I feel like she could have handled the situation in so many other ways than what she ended up doing and it was immature on so many levels. I can understand her reaction to seeing her sister again, especially since Faye was not recognizable as her sister.
I mean, I'd be totally angry to find out that my sister let me believe she was dead for several years! I mean, who wouldn't be angry? Yes, she did leave clues, but how was Naomi supposed to know to look for them when she didn't enjoy Harlow's music like Faye did?
I also don't blame Naomi for moving away for a fresh start and also for not wanting anything to do with Harlow after Faye's death, especially since Faye was basically obsessed with Harlow. I'm not surprised that Faye was able to take over Harlow's life since that's essentially what she wanted.
I feel like Faye is also self-centered and completely self-absorbed. She isn't very mature either, which made me kinda curl my lip in a way. I wasn't impressed with Faye as a character, which is sad because I normally love the villain in the stories I read.
I guess I'm just overall kinda disappointed with how this book turned out, even though I was hooked from the beginning. I will say that it did keep me engaged but I also feel like it fell short in how things were wrapped up.
Would I recommend this book? I mean, yes, I suppose I would, if you want a break from the harsher books you can find in this genre. Yes, it does go deep in some areas, but it kinda brushed the surface everywhere else. All in all, the premise is solid but it could have been executed a bit better.
Meh...not the best but not the worst either.
