It’s paranormal women’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

Katherine wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove.

Okay, yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn’t drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

Four minutes was all it took for fate to run away with anything that resembled normal.

Now Katherine is trying to place mysterious psychic visions into her previously ordered life. She’s playing referee between a displaced Southern mama and a sarcastic mechanic with a chip on her shoulder. And her quiet life has been upended by a mysterious rash of violent acts by students at her school.

Thankfully, her new friends have powers of their own, and together they just might discover who or what has it in for the quiet citizens of Moonstone Cove.

Runaway Fate is the first book in the hot new paranormal women’s fiction series, Moonstone Cove by USA Today best-selling author, Elizabeth Hunter.

Runaway Fate by Elizabeth Hunter
Book 1 of the Moonstone Cove series, a spin-off fro the Glimmer Lake series. Paranormal women’s fiction. While the characters from Glimmer Lake make an appearance, those books do not need to be read first unless minor spoilers are an issue.

While Katherine is at her gym working out, she experiences a vision of a student pulling out a gun and shooting people. Suddenly he’s there and reaching into his jacket. Katherine and two other women in the gym prevent the shooting and subdue him. But it’s not over. Katherine and her two new friends investigate another “worst nightmare” situation and find more than one connection and more than one student who doesn’t remember how they things went so wrong.

A strong and smart heroine with a successful career and a supporting spouse. She’s not sure why she’s getting visions suddenly but she doesn’t hesitate to act. I loved the building friendships of the three women after meeting at the gym and each manifesting some psychic ability. Just like in the Glimmer Lake series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Immediately engaging, quick moving and fascinating.

I alternated between a paperback and audiobook. The narrator did a great job with voice variations and emotions.

I really enjoyed this PNR women’s fiction story a lot. Katherine finds herself with sudden visions, the first of which helps her prevent tragedy at the gym. But these visions are unsettling and unexpected, and when she learns that she’s not the only one experiencing new seemingly supernatural abilities, the other two women end up working with her to help figure out what is behind the rash of violence in their normally sedate college town.

This is a solid story, with really strong, smart, but real and flawed women as the center of the story. Katherine is a college biophysics professor, but she also has social anxiety, and she’s married to a brilliant math professor who is clearly a unicorn husband, supportive and loving and seemingly perfect in every way. Even though the romance isn’t a focus of the story, it’s important in who her character is and is part of where she draws her strength from. And the other women have their own quirks and strengths, bringing together an interesting and often fun level of interaction as they navigate through some difficult situations.

The audiobook is solid, single POV narration, with a narrator that absolutely fits Katherine’s voice, bringing across her strength and her vulnerability, and doing a great job of bringing life to the other characters as well. Overall, very enjoyable, and I’m looking forward to getting the other women’s stories as well!

Great womens fiction PNR
