Some secrets are buried for a reason.

Some never stay buried.

During a winter thaw, a young man’s body is pulled from a riverbank. His name is Chris Randall—and someone is determined to keep the truth about his death hidden.

When Detective Madison Knight arrives on the scene, she quickly realizes this isn’t a simple homicide. Chris’s mother has lived for years with a devastating secret—one that shattered her family long before her son was murdered. She’s convinced the killer is the one man with the most to lose: Chris’s father.

Marcus Randall is powerful, wealthy, and well connected. And when Madison starts asking questions, doors begin to close and the pressure mounts. Even the police chief seems intent on slowing the investigation.

But resistance only sharpens Madison’s instincts.

As she digs deeper, Madison uncovers a web of lies built on money, influence, and betrayal. Someone is controlling the narrative—and they’re willing to use their power to do it.

Now Madison must decide how far she’s willing to push for justice. Because in this case, the truth doesn’t just come at a cost—it makes her a target.

Dark, fast-paced, and twisty—perfect for fans of crime thrillers, police procedurals, and female-led mysteries.

I am a Texan and as such I love a good story. This may very well be one but I will never know. The narrator, in this case, has proven to be the proverbial nail in the coffin. She reads too fast and does not treat punctuation properly. For that reason, I stopped listening and will look for her name in every future purchase. It was not awful, it was intolerable.
