Re-recorded with all new opening scene to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Black Ocean in audio.

The escape pods are long gone.

A distress beacon is still active.

Chase off the pirates and the wreck is all theirs. What was a crime scene moments before just became legitimate salvage, fair game for an opportunistic starship captain.

Carl Ramsey is that opportunist.

His crew of misfits includes his ex-wife as pilot, a drunken mechanic, a predatory bodyguard, and an outcast wizard from the Convocation. On their best days, they’re a well-oiled machine, capable of taking on any challenge.

In theory.

If that ever happened, Carl would be as shocked as anyone.

In the meantime, they're a crew in need of terras, and the galaxy doesn't give those out for free. Jobs come and go, but the cost of fuel is always chasing a ship like its own ion trail. A good captain just keeps his crew from killing one another, getting dusted by pirates, and earning however they can. Nobody pays for easy work, and every job comes with its own surprises—never the good kind.

Welcome to life out in the Black Ocean.

...where you can’t always get what you want. But if you try, sometimes...

You’ll get what you need.

Salvage Trouble is the first mission of Black Ocean: Galaxy Outlaws, a space fantasy series set in the 26th century. Did you wish for a second season of Firefly? Do you love the irreverent fun of Guardians of the Galaxy? Have you ever wondered how Star Wars would have turned out if Luke and Obi-wan had ditched the rebellion to become smugglers with Han and Chewie? Then Galaxy Outlaws is the series for you!

Pick up your copy of Salvage Trouble, and aim to misbehave with the crew of the Mobius.

NOTE: Salvage Trouble was formerly titled A Pilot's Pilot, so you'll see reviews with both titles. The story is the same!

It's okay, but it never really caught my attention. The book seems to short and repetitive.

If you are a fan of firefly you will find this very entertaining. Space ships, alien races, mercenaries, smugglers, Wizards, tech and more all rolled together for a fun and amusing romp through the Galaxy. Keeps you wanting more. I received this audiobook from the author narrator or publisher for free via audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review

Good story but over priced for the audio companion at over $7 for a 4 hour story. I will not buy anymore until the price is dropped.

Good storyline

Salvage Trouble is a fun, fast-paced story that follows a colorful band of misfits as they steal, run, and get into all sorts of trouble across space — all while keeping readers laughing. It’s essentially Firefly meets Borderlands, blending humor, adventure, and a touch of chaos in a compact package.

The story is short and engaging, which makes it easy to read in one sitting. Like the first episode of a TV show, it introduces most of the main characters, hints at mysterious technology and magic, and teases plotlines that may develop later.

For anyone looking for an easy ride with laughs and adventure, this is a great place to start. There aren’t many books in this genre, and Salvage Trouble does a solid job of keeping readers hooked without overcomplicating the story. I definitely welcome more adventures in this universe.
