Between the story and the narrator, this book makes you feel the story as if it is your own. Will listen to again, but first I am anxious to get started in the second book!

TW: this book contains mentions of sexual assault, and mentions of prostitution in a disparaging manner. It also contains death scenes.

Review: amazing book. Honestly, one of the best examples of world building. I hope people make fan art of this

Fantastic story highlighted by mesmerizing visions of the impossible: traveling through sand. All my life I’ve had recurrent dreams of such an occurrence: walking through that which is solid. Great beasts that burst forth from subterranean lairs beneath my feet. Deep oceans and beautiful clear tide pools which required only the peeling back of carpeting on the living room to be revealed; great and huge and beautiful and frightening creatures beneath the solid, all usual and normal in my sleeping brain. And so this novel struck me in a very inner, private place, as if the author had peered in to my dreams and brought them to life.

In quantum physics nothing is solid. Everything breaks down into particles. And those into particles— until no more remain but the tiniest of quarks vibrating against each other. All matter is but a mass of vibrations. And according to the laws of quantum physics, moving through sand (or walls, or stone or concrete) is entirely possible.

It is the wonder of my dreams combined with these little-known laws of quantum matter that moved me so much throughout this story. I can’t wait to start Across the Sand next!

Every bit as good as Wool!

After listening to the Silo trilogy and loving it, I had high expectations of this book but it’s nowhere near.
