With the help of her old diaries, Sarah Morris recounts her life story.

The daughter of an English vicar, she begins by telling of her happy childhood with her brothers and sister in their country village. As a teenager, Sarah’s brother brings home a friend - Charles, a charming Austrian to whom she quickly becomes close.

Over the years they fall in love, but when war breaks out Charles must return to Austria. While she awaits his return, Sarah quietly continues working hard and caring for her family. But she can’t stop wondering if she will ever see her sweetheart again…

Great slice of life from WWII Britain. Vivid characters. Good people doing their best in awful circumstances. Great narration style.

Lovely story

What did you love best about Sarah Morris Remembers?

I love books written about WWII as well as a setting in England. I enjoyed the reader and her various characters--good job! This book recalls history and life for civilians in WWII, but also talks about the sacrifices many gave during this time. But most of all, it is simply a lovely romance.

Which character – as performed by Patience Tomlinson – was your favorite?

Charles Reed although I did think she did a great job with Sarah, too.

Really enjoyable book!

I first read this book in the early seventies. I was thrilled to find it was available on Audible. It’s a very good story about England before and during WWII. DE Stevenson’s books can always be counted on for a good story with an engaging plot.

I am a huge fan of D E Stevenson. This is one of my favorite stories along with the sequel Sarah's Cottage. Patience Tomlinson did a good job especially of doing the Scottish accents. She made it come alive.
Sarah Morris shares memories of her life and family from when she was young through her teen years and meeting a special man before WWII began. Her memories take the reader through the war and to several tragedies and at last her marriage. Nothing earth shattering but just a beautiful cozy story that always pulls me in.I love her style.

Love D E Stevenson!

This is a good back story to the book "Sarah" Cottage. I liked the story but the narrator was annoying especially when she did the children's voices. I would not look for another book by this person. Because I Love DE Stevenson I put up with the inferior narration.

Good Story Not a good narratior
