Gleefully mixing SF, fantasy, and horror, Screaming Science Fiction is a full-length collection of nine thrilling, chilling, spine-tingling stories by horror master Brian Lumley (Necroscope), including "No Way Home", "Snarker's Son", "The Strange Years", and a nearly 20,000 word novella (Feasibility Study) appearing for the first time anywhere.

This was my first time reading any of Lumley’s work. I wanted to start off with a short story collection so I could get a feel of his work! I like it! Very much so. I eager to read his books about Cthulhu Mythos.
Also, I listened to this on audible and I want to say that the narrator did a phenomenal job!!! If there’s more of Lumley’s audiobooks read by Joshua Saxon, then I’ll be listening to them all, instead of reading them!

I like weird…

Traditional science fiction (considering Lumley’s horror books I might have expected more visceral darkness) anthology sourced from scifi magazines. I appreciated the pulpy nature of the tales filled with irony. It’s stories tended to be perspective based and smartly sensitive. I appreciated that each starts with a brief forward explaining the history, some background, or a teasing lead on the story. This context helps us appreciate the work of Lumley as a formative author and some of his intentions (I’m not too familiar with Lumley but I think this collection looks different than his usual threads). It contains nine stories with three being larger novellas over an hour each in length. My favorites were The Man Who Felt Pain and Big C. Narrator Joshua Saxton has a great formal British accent and is good.
