A good read!

An intense story of the horrors of Nazi Germany and how one young woman survived, overcame, and created a new life in a distant country far from the past. It moves quickly but clearly and has more plot twists than I expected. It grabbed me on an afternoon and wouldn't let go!
Bill Nevitt has a clear yet moving delivery that enhances the good and the bad in the characters' experiences.

A somewhat sad historical romance

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. I’d consider this a historical romance, but not in a sappy way. Inga is Jewish and her love is the nephew of one of Hitler’s associates. Although there is not a lot of in-depth historical details, there is definitely enough to get the feel for living during this time -the hardships, the ostracization, the fear, the atrocities. As Inga is taken from her life by the Nazis and placed in a camp, Fritz must comply with his families wishes or face prosecution. Can they get through with their lives, let alone their morals in tact? Almost half of the story takes part in America.

This is the third book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Bill Nevitt ). He puts forth a good performance and adds accents to some of the characters. A good listen.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

AMAZING

This was an amazing love story in a horrible time. I've read lots of books on the Holocaust and this one is at the top. The love story and the life after is comforting to hear. I will be listening again

Heart wrenching story

This is an emotion filled, unusual romance set during WWII and the later years. The emotion of the story draws you in from the very beginning. You can really feel the devastation, loss, fear and horror that occurred. Your heart breaks at the atrocities, the hate and for the lives lost. The vivid characters and suspenseful plot elicit both good and bad emotions. I will never understand how one human can act like that against another, it is unfathomable. This story has themes of forbidden love, loss, determination, forgiveness and survival. The narrator really brings the story to life, showing all the emotions, giving the characters individual voices and adding some accents. The story has action, suspense, lots of emotion and an entertaining plot.

GOOD READ!

I enjoyed it! This book is full of suspense, mystery and romance. The narration is great and will keep you entertained. This author does a great job with the character builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely not my last. I look forward to reading more of his books. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
