I swore I wouldn’t do this again. Mix sports, school, and sex. But right now the only thing standing between me and the NHL is six feet of frenemy packed into a pair of form-fitting jeans that have me thinking all kinds of things I shouldn’t. Mostly how to get him out of them.

I don’t just want Kolby. I need him. Because I’ve got to pass this theater class—yeah, I said theater—if I’m going to keep my spot on the team. When tutoring sessions turn into dates-not-dates over Shipley Cider at Vino and Veritas, I realize it’s going to be harder than I thought to keep my hands on my stick and off of Kolby. Worse, I think I might be falling for him. But I’m not ready for that. I want to keep this thing between us on the down-low for now.

But Kolby hates secrets. Especially his own . . .

Difficult histories...family...relationships....young love..plenty of chemistry, which I could feel. Adam and Kolby worked well together. I enjoyed the narrator also.

Sports..and young love

I liked the storyline very much. I loved the performers’ storytelling as well.

My only complaint is how everything goes down at V&V. In my opinion, Kolby was very much to blame for how the secret got out and even if Adam didn’t want to take his calls because he was dealing with the fallout, it’s Adam’s choice how the story gets told afterwards. Adam shouldn’t have to beg forgiveness for not giving Kolby a chance to explain.

Good story and performance

Okay I also love this story as well.
The two main characters are so sweet . I must state that I totally agree with Adam that there was enough room on the piece 🪵 wood for Jack to have survived that would have made it a true love story, but that has nothing to do with the fact that this book was a young love affair. I do wish we received a little more interaction from the families to see how that relationship progressed. still a must listen 🎶

I enjoyed the narration by Cooper North and Iggy Toma. They did a nice job of bringing two interesting characters to life. The story had some interesting moments, but I kept getting hung up on certain details. I was a college athlete. I knew many college athletes. Yes, they have a reputation for consuming an above average amount of alcohol. Some of that reputation is warranted. Most is not. College athletes on scholarship who want to go pro do not regularly drink beer after practice or games. Just no.

I liked parts of the plot, but the character reactions kept giving me whiplash. I felt like I was in the middle of a daytime soap opera where the characters can only respond to any event with melodrama. One minute they are in love, and the next minute they have experienced the worst betrayal of their lives.

If you like romance and melodrama, you will probably appreciate the story.

Good narration. Decent story.
